| As the term suggests, this is the action of zooming in
on an image. This is done in one of two ways; by increasing
the size of the pixels, or by interpolating. Obviously the
image you are photographing does not get any closer to the
camera.
The action of Digital Zoom can be paralleled
with cropping the image. The centre of the image is stored
as data, dropping the quality of the image. As the quality
drops, so does the filesize of the end photo.
When you use photo editing software, you commonly use the
resize tool. Digital Zoom is a lot like this resize tool;
by just resizing it, the quality you want in the picture is
drastically reduced. You will not be able to print high-quality
photos when using digital zoom to take the picture. Many Digital
Cameras operate with digital zoom, while some cameras
come with optical zoom, and some with both features. |
