There are two general trains of thought about
what is the optimal time for turkey hunting.
Firstly, you can try ariving at your hunting location approximately
one hour before sunrise. That way you will have had time to
settle down before the turkey wake up.
At peak gobbling season the toms are usually with the hens from
about 8:00am to 9:00am. Taking this approach you should arrive
at your hunting spot at about 7:00am to ensure you are early
enough. You will need to be very quiet when approaching your
stand as the turkey will already be awake and you could easily
put them on high alert. |
