The United Hockey League now consists
of 10 teams all based out of the United States of America.
The UHL is a professional hockey league, and has had many
hockey teams come and go over the years,
from both sides of the border.
The United Hockey League was originally
called the Colonial Hockey League when formed in 1991. It
changed to its current
name in 1997. The original hockey teams were based out of
the USA and Canada; Detroit MI, Flint MI, St. Thomas ON,
Brantford
ON, and Thunder Bay ON.
Their playoff trophy, the Colonial Cup, is named after the
hockey league's original name
