National Hockey League

The most widely known professional hockey organization in North America is most certainly the National Hockey League (NHL). It is also considered the only major professional hockey league in the world.

 

NHL Awards

Each year a televised awards banquet is held to recognize and honour the players, coaches and teams for their efforts during the season. The NHL awards are voted on by sports writers, the NHL players association and NHL representatives.

Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup is the most coveted trophy in all of hockey. It is awarded to one team at the end of each season.
 
Past Winners
The first year the Stanley Cup was awarded was in the 1892-1893 season. The modern NHL format however, was adopted in the 1917-1918 season.
