The majority of all jigs are normally
made in the same fashion. That is, a lead sinker with a hook.
The straight part of the hook (shank) is covered in something,
giving it a body. The jig works well for
a wide variety of fish species.
Jigs come in all shapes and sizes. The heads
differ from round, to fish head shaped, coned, flat, etc.
The head is what gives the jig it's weight,
as the lead sinker can range in size. The hook can also vary
greatly, depending on the type of fish you plan on catching.
The body of the jig is normally made from
rubber. They can be shaped into almost anything that would
appeal to fish. Common shapes are frogs, grubs, fish and lizards.
The colour range is very wide, once again, depending on the
type of fish you are catching. |
