| The Sampan is a Chinese boat, used for
fishing and as a home on some rivers. It averages 13 ft in
length, and floats very low to the water. It has a flat bottom,
which enables the handlers of the boat to store items, without
them tipping over.
Traders also use these boats to haul cargo up and down rivers.
Sampans are not meant for distance travel. A motor can be
attached to the back of the boat, but they are primarily driven
by hand, using oars
Many Southeast Asian countries still use the Sampan.
