We have compiled a pre-departure
checklist for boating. We will be adding more items
to this list in the coming days.
- Ensure that there are enough life jackets or PFDs
for everyone on board. Also make sure that they are the proper
size and fit for each individual.
- Check for the proper safety equipment including a flashlight,
first-aid kit, knife and tool-kit.
- Ensure the throttle and steering on the boat is operating
smoothly.
- General physical condition of the craft including the hull
and fasten all hoses and clamps.
- Check the weather forecast.
- File a trip plan with someone responsible.
