| On February 27th/2004 the Superferry 14 carrying almost 900
people sank after a large explosion onboard. The ensuing fire
on the ship made rescue efforts difficult. |

| It was reported that 118 people died in the tragedy and 16
people remained missing. Many of the rescued travellers and
crew suffered from severe burns. |

In October of 2004 six people were arrested in connection
with the disaster. They were accused of planting explosives
on the ship which caused the explosion.
