| The Sultana was a steam powered paddle-ship. On April 21/1865
the Sultana sank after the boilers onboard exploded while on
a trip in the Mississippi River. In this accident more than
1600 peoples lives were lost. 741 people survived this tragedy. |
Currently, this disaster
holds the infamous distinction of being the 'Worst Single
Ship Disaster' in the Guiness Book of World Records. |
