| Archery can be
a wonderfully fun hobby and sport. It can also be very dangerous.
Just as with a rifle, you have to be very careful when using
a bow. The following is a set of Basic
Archery Safety Guidelines you should always follow. |
| |
| A bow can be a weapon at all times. Keep this in mind when
using one. |
| |
| A person should never hold a target for you, and should never
be standing near a target. Accidents happen, and you should
avoid all circumstances that could result in an accident. Also,
no one should ever be directly beside someone using a bow.
Always make sure that people are standing behind you. |
| |
| Shoot your bow only at a firing range, and then only at the
targets provided. Do not even aim your loaded bow at anything
other than the target. Make sure the targets can stop any arrow
shot at it. Also make sure the area behind the target is free
of anything that the bow could harm. |
| |
| Always use arrows that are the proper length
for your bow. |
| |
| Pay attention to the quality and conditions of your bow
string. Replace your bow string as soon as it becomes
worn. |
| |
| The arrow is not the only thing that can hurt you. Always
remember to wear hand and arm protection. |
| |
| If you are new to your bow, have a professional string it
for you. Never try to string a bow if you do not know what you
are doing. |
| |
| Always make sure that all your arrows have been shot before
you, or anyone else, gets the shot arrows. |
| |
| Always look carefully at your bow and arrows. Any broken pieces
can end up causing serious injury to you, or others around you. |
| |
| Never shoot without looking. |
