Getting The T-Draw Right

Home > Sports & Recreation > Archery

The T-Draw in archery is the classic draw. The name comes from the position the body is in when drawing. If you take archery lessons as a beginner, this is how you are taught to draw your bow. Once you have grasped the bowstring, turn and lift the bow up, drawing the string as you go. Draw the string towards your face, using your back muscles as the primary pulling force. Always look down the sight, aiming at the target, during the entire drawing process. At this point, your body should be forming a T shape. Once you have your aim, release the string.

Most archers will begin to draw the bow when it is still facing the ground, and continue to draw while raising the bow. This is how competition archery is done.
